Explore colour and how to use it effectively in drawing, painting, craft and intereior design. This course will demystify and mystify the phenomenom of light and colour. You will learn about the colour wheel, its organizing principles, colour schemes and colour harmony. The process is explored and integrated through a series of small illuminated drawings with Prismacolor pencils on black paper.

On Saturday, March 15, 2008, Nelson Peace Coalition will hold a Peace Cafe and Teach-In on Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan. Join us in the growing global movement against war and occupation, at Nelson United Church, 2-5 pm, for an inspiring, informative afternoon of activism. In addition to good food and local entertainment, there will be an outstanding program of speakers, to include MP Alex Atamanenko and Francisco Juarez (former Canadian Army Lieutenant who refused deployment to Afghanistan), and selections from “Winter Soldier: Iraq & Afghanistan,” featuring testimony from U.S. veterans who served in those occupations, giving an accurate account of what is really happening day in and day out, on the ground. Donations accepted.

Hail Caesar: Rome wasn’t built in a day and Caesar is still dead, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the glory of Rome. On March 15th 44 BC Marcus Brutus ended the life of Julius Caesar and in order to celebrate or mourn the treachery and debauchery, (whichever you please), Olindo Chiocca will Marcus the occasion with a number of traditional Roman dishes and family recipes from Rome that reflect the variety and simplicity of Roman Cooking. Togas are optional. Wine pairing will be available with this menu. Chef - Olindo, whose parents hail from the surrounding region of Rome, is the author of Dinner wit da Dons, the world’s first Cookbook Noir.
