Nelson Artist Shayne Brandel (formerly known from ‘Build an African kindergarten with one painting’, ‘The Silence project’, ‘Ignite the Boogeyman Lantern Parade’, ‘Falling: solo exhibit at Gallery 378’ and recent co-developer of Grid Art Gallery) announces his 2010 solo Exhibition: ‘Accretion’

Brandel has put together a collection of his past years work. ‘Accretion’ is a new series of oil paintings, sculpture, video, and installation from the studio of one of B.C.’s newest discovered talents. The first venue to showcase this body of work will be Grid Art Gallery in Nelson. The exhibition will show for the last two weeks of November.

The common thread that binds these works together is Brandels approach to his surfaces; more specifically, his process. By titling this group of work ‘Accretion’ (Growth or increase in size by gradual external addition, fusion, or inclusion) Brandel refers to the importance of his process. Many of these works are seemingly blown together by the wind, and at the same time can be surprisingly realistic in their representation of objects or moments. The installation sculptures use found objects and mediums to take the viewer even further beyond the traditional landscape. ‘Accretion’ has a sense of history, strong narrative story telling, and humor. It should not be missed.

Grid Art Gallery is located at 351-B Baker St.(lane entrance) in Nelson B.C. Canada. Gallery hours are 10:30 – 5:30 Tuesday to Saturday *or by appointment anytime*.
