Autumn

Autumn is a young cat who was abandoned by her previous owners with her litter of kittens.  She has very pretty golden eyes, a nice pattern of soft black and orangy-gold fur on her head and ears, and a soft black nose.  She’s a little bit shy, but friendly overall.  She’s curious, but cautious.  She enjoys sleeping in her bed, but she can also be very cuddly once she becomes accustomed to you.  All her kittens have now been adopted, and she’s looking for a quiet, friendly home.

Mr. Mew
Mr.Mew is a very friendly cat who came to our Nelson shelter from the Cranbrook SPCA where he was surrendered by his owner. Mr Mew is still a young guy, he’s only around two years old. He is very majestic looking, and is always in need of some loving! Come down for a visit, you won’t regret it!

Sofia
Sofia is a small, completely white senior female cat that could easily be mistaken for a kitten. She came to the Nelson Adoption Centre as a stray. Sofia is very affectionate with people and will return any love she is given in spades however she gets extremely stressed when exposed to other animals.
She would certainly have to go to a home as an only pet and as an  indoor-only cat. Sofia will need lots of love, care, and a quiet environment in her new home.

Stan
Stan is an affectionate and happy-go-lucky neutered male. He has long gray hair, but barely sheds at all. He gets along great with people of all ages and other animals. Stan is the perfect cat for almost any family.

Jade
Jade is a sweet and cuddly spayed gray female, estimated to be about eight years old. Her affectionate personality and soft coat make her the perfect lap cat. She came to us as a stray, but was obviously well loved in someone’s home at one point. She gets along with other cats and would probably be fine with a mellow, mature dog.

Andre

Andre is a large male, black short-hair who looks a bit like a panther. He is a very sweet cat with a go-with-the-flow kind of attitude. He has a very unique personality and is happy doing just about everything! He gets along fine with other cats and is indifferent with dogs.

Missy

Missy is a special cat with a special story. She was abandoned and
survived for a week in the walls of an apartment by licking
condensation off of a heater. She was extremely thin and traumatized
when she came out, but has made tremendous strides in her foster home
since then. She is still semi-feral and requires someone with time,
energy, and patience to build a relationship with her. Missy is
definitely worth the commitment, as she is very playful and
affectionate once you have gained her trust. She would do best in a
quiet home with no children as she can lash out when she feels
threatened. She is good with other cats and would also be happy to
share a house with a calm and friendly dog.

Mica was surrendered to us due to allergy issues within his home. He is very handsome and distinguished looking and has the personality to match. He is calm, playful, and loving. His sweet disposition with people and other cats is just as impressive as his beautiful fur coat.

Maggie, 5 year old Australian Shepherd

Maggie is our new girl at the shelter. In spite of having a rocky start to her life, she has a great outlook. She was left on a chain with a litter of puppies to care for but no water or food to do this. She was a scared and shut down lady but made an incredible come back when she landed in a loving family that worked with her to make her a great dog. Unfortunately, Maggie’s family went through tough financial times and are not able to keep her any more and have had to gave up her in hopes that she will find happiness and love in another home. Maggie is a super happy girl best suited to a life without livestock to watch over - she would much rather hang out with you and be a part of the family. Call or stop by Second Chance Animal Shelter weekdays to meet Maggie or any of the wonderful animals currently spending time with us.

Meet Spencer, our man of the week!

Spencer is a 2 year old Boxer/Pitty cross. He’s a recent arrival to the clan at Second Chance and he is one super little dude that just needs some direction in his life. Spencer needs a owner that has breed familiarity and experience but is not gruff with him .He has gotten into some trouble with cats and needs work on his manners. His former owners were too busy to spend the time he needed to get properly trained, As with all dogs, Spencer needs direction on what is OK in your world and what is not. Spencer’s volunteer walker says he’s a fabulous dog who behaves well on the leash and is full of play and enthusiasm. Anyone who adopts Spence will have one great dog on their hands.
