As part of a 10 day Palliative Massage Summer School, there will be a free half day Wheelchair Massage Workshop at the Mountain Lakes Senior’s Community above 10th Street in Fairview on Monday July 7th at 1pm. All Wheelchair enthusiasts are welcome to sign up for this complimentary workshop for their friends, caregivers, and families. Caregivers will experience the special head, neck and shoulder massages they so richly deserve.

On July 10, the Kootenay Food Strategy Society will be welcoming one of the most celebrated farmers in the world.

In Decemer 2007, Percy became the recipient of the Right Livelihood Award; often referred to as the “alternative Nobel”. The award was presented in honour his “courage in defending biodiversity and farmers’ rights”.

This event will encourage Kootenay residents to take action to ensure such crops are not grown in our regional foodshed. Most importantly, the campaign will ensure that viable alternatives are available to farmers currently growing G.E. crops.

Local singer songwriter Aspen Switzer is in the process of recording her second album.
Local performers Laura Landsberg, Allison Girvan, Michael Graham and Lucas Myers are among those who will perform in support of Aspen at a fundraising concert for this important yet costly endevour. Of course Aspen will be there with her trio Thistledowne. This eclectic compilation of talented individuals will offer a great night of captivating performances.
