We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

Freedom from hunger and thirst

Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

Freedom from distress

Freedom from discomfort

Create a world where no Canadian fears cancer. Did you know that 2 in 5 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer? This means that every one of us will be touched in some way by cancer throughout our lifetime. Each volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society plays an important role in the fight against cancer.

Join our team of 20,000 dedicated volunteers from across BC and the Yukon. By becoming a volunteer you can spread the word about cancer prevention, raise funds, or support people living with cancer. Plus, you will gain new skills, meet great people and connect with your community.

It’s important work, and we need the support of many to make it happen!

Kootenay Animal Assistance Program

Kootenay Animal Assistance Program Society(KAAP) is a small group of local volunteers who provide a broad range of services to support pets and pet owners in the West Kootenay area.

Our program allows under-employed and lower or fixed income pet owners access to pet health-care support, as well as providing transportation, financing and pet care counselling, where needed.

We can help you find and adopt a new pet, or re-home a pet you can no longer care for. We can also provide temporary foster care for pets whose owners are between homes or are having a personal emergency. All animals in our care are in foster homes.

If you are interested in fostering an animal, or are able to help us in any way, please give us a call.

Sahaj Marg Meditation

Sahaj Marg means the Natural Path. It is a simple way to learn to open the heart in order to experience the divinity that is quietly residing in all of us. People from all backgrounds, cultures and faiths around the world benefit by practising this modern-day form of raja yoga finding  that it brings balance, peace of mind, joy and spiritual growth in their lives. Ongoing support is offered, free of charge, in over one hundred countries under Shri Ram Chandra Mission a non- profit organization.

Group meditations ( satsanghs) are held in Nelson:  Wed at 7:30 p.m.  and Sunday at 7:30 a.m.  presently, alternating between Eleanor and Sarah’s homes.

As a bird needs two wings to fly, so a human being needs the two wings of existence, the spiritual and the material, to lead a natural and harmonious life.
