The Nelson BC SPCA Adoption Centre Banch is continually seeking support from regional partners, sponsors and businesses to help fund our important work in our community. The donations we receive are crucial in maintaining and operating the Nelson Branch Adoption Centre. Any contribution helps us to care for animals in need. The BC SPCA is a registered charitable organization and can offer charitable tax receipts.

The BC society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a non-profit Society created for the protection of domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. The BC SPCA does not receive any government funding to support our operations. Through its 37 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA cares for nearly 60 000 homeless, injured, abused, and abandoned animals each year.
We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:
• Freedom from hunger and thirst
• Freedom from pain, injury, and disease
• Freedom from distress
• Freedom from discomfort
• Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.

Kootenay Animal Assistance Program Society(KAAP) is a small group of local volunteers who provide a broad range of services to support pets and pet owners in the West Kootenay area.

Our program allows under-employed and lower or fixed income pet owners access to pet health-care support, as well as providing transportation, financing and pet care counselling, where needed.

We can help you find and adopt a new pet, or re-home a pet you can no longer care for. We can also provide temporary foster care for pets whose owners are between homes or are having a personal emergency. All animals in our care are in foster homes.

If you are interested in fostering an animal, or are able to help us in any way, please give us a call.
