Death Cafe, Fall 2017 Series

Our Death Cafes are a facilitated process that uses a question to initiate conversation between people in small groups around issues related to death, dying and living fully.
Please join us on a journey of dialogue, exploration, and discovery, through this territory where tenderness, heart break, deep love, fear and gratitude live side by side in the landscape.

The Kalein Day Hospice Program is
a partnership between the Nelson and District Hospice Society and the Kalein Hospice Centre Society
A weekly program offered in a beautiful, nature-connected environment to serve those with terminal illness and their caregivers.

Liminal Learning Lab – Two Great Thought Leaders
One Great Conversation…
Kalein Centre held its first Liminal Learning Lab September 14-17, 2017.
The 3-day event explored death, grief and loss. Activities included community storytelling, singing, dancing and creating art. At the Civic Theatre public event, Kalein was pleased to bring together two great thought leaders, Frank Ostaseski & Dr. Bill Thomas (via Skype), for a conversation on death, dying and aging at the Nelson Civic Theatre.

Festival of Lights
Tuesday December 5,
5-7 pm
Kalein’s 2nd Annual Festival of Lights is a family friendly event honouring the memory of those who have passed on and provides support for those who may be grieving. Participants will be invited to place a candle and lantern and on the beautiful grounds of Kalein Centre. Entertainment by Bessie Wapp Choir and Slava Doval Dance Fusion, refreshments will be provided.

Grief Support Group
Every Monday,
6:30pm – 8:30pm
Nelson & District Hospice Society offers this drop in support group to anyone who is experiencing grief due to the death of someone they love. Hosted by trained Hospice Volunteers.
