After six and a half years of work and waiting, the Kootenay Lake Outdoor Skate Park Society (KLOSPS) now has a site to build an outdoor skate park. Nelson City Council voted in favour of donating a site next to the arboretum at Lakeside Park to KLOSPS. The volunteer group will use New Line Skate Parks, a Vancouver skate park design company, to assess the site and draw up design options. After plans fell through to use another site for a skate park, KLOSPS is relieved to have a yes on the site, which is beside the soccer fields at Lakeside Park and close to parking and washrooms.
