Osprey Community Foundation Receives Grant for its Environment Fund

Kick starting our Environment Fund

We are looking for some help. We’ve recently received a $12,000 grant from Community Foundations of Canada to ‘kick start’ our Environment Fund and boost it to a new level. But there’s a catch. In order to keep this grant, we need to match it 2:1 – raising a further $24,000 for the Fund over the next 18 months.

The Environment Fund

The Environment Fund was established to encourage and support environmental initiatives in our community. There are non-profit organizations and champions in this area who are ready to mobilize the community around the environmental challenges we face, but moving from ideas to coordinated, effective action takes money and resources. We’d like to increase the capital in our Environment Fund to the point where it can generate some meaningful financial ‘fuel’ for these efforts.

The Osprey Community Foundation

We are a local charitable endowment that benefits a wide range of worthwhile projects and causes in Nelson and the surrounding area. This year alone, we will be giving out over $100,000 in grants to community initiatives. Our endowment has grown to $3 million – a nest egg that will generate funds for Nelson in perpetuity.
