A Foxy week ahead at The Civic

Newsletter November 30 – December 6
A Foxy week ahead at The Civic LoungeIt’s a Foxy week at The Civic Lounge, with two features from 20th Century Fox, so pull up and get a little glass and some ice and curl up in the Civic’s crushed velvet stage drape for some great entertainment.

Widows, 91 proof on Rotten Tomatoes, is the latest from Steve McQueen, academy award director of 12 Years a Slave, and co-written by author of Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn. Widows is foxy modern-day thriller set around four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities. Set in contemporary Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, tensions build when Veronica (Oscar (R) winner Viola Davis), Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) take their fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms. “Widows” also stars Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall, Daniel Kaluuya, Lukas Haas and Brian Tyree Henry.

Enter the silver Fox, Robert Redford. The Old Man & the Gun (90 Proof – Rotten Tomatoes) is based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Robert Redford), from his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public. Wrapped up in the pursuit are detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck), who becomes captivated with Forrest’s commitment to his craft, and a woman (Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite of his chosen profession.

So listen up all you foxy people, it’s better to evade all those beagles and English hunters and find a safe refuge in the cave of The Civic Theatre.
