Disruptive Innovation Festival:
The online festival of ideas that asks: 

what if we could redesign everything?November 6-24, the DIF will invite economists, entrepreneurs, academics, designers, futurists, city planners and more to contribute their thoughts to a global audience.  Here in Nelson, The Civic Theatre will be live-streaming a selection of sessions that touch on important questions for our time, such as: 

  • How the Circular Economy Will Finance Basic Income
  • the Future of Open Source Seed
  • Women and the Circular Economy: Obstacles, Solutions and the Future
  • Community Co-Production and New Places for Democracy

Admission will be free (at the door donations are welcome, and will go towards The Civic Theatre’s hard costs of presenting these sessions. Morning coffee for attendees generously sponsored by The Kootenay Coop.

Meet other film lovers to see movies together

Looking for a movie buddy? The Civic Theatre’s Jason Asbell will be hosting our first Films with Friends pre-cinema cafe group on Tuesday, November 7 at 6:30pm at the Kootenay Coop (in the seating area), preceding our screening of Victoria and Abdul at 7:30pm.  Come for a coffee (or British tea!), meet other film lovers, and enjoy seeing a film with some (new) friends. Individuals, couples, and groups are welcome!
