What’s Playing at The Civic, 14 – 20 September 2018

BC’s Jacob Tremblay summons something bad from the depths of space
 September 14th – 20th
Now Playing At the Civic Theatre
This GMO ‘Predator’ is coming for you.

Shane Black’s “The Predator” is a fun, brutal, fighting machine that wastes no time getting down to business—not unlike its title character. It’s not big on wasted dialogue or too many attempts at meta humor, playing both like an homage/throwback film to the action of the ‘80s and something that feels new and fresh. There’s nothing pretentious or whimsical here as we so often see in films that almost parody ‘80s action instead of trying to figure out why these movies have endured in the first place. It’s easy to mimic or mock something. It’s much harder to ask why the first “Predator” captured lightning in a bottle and then try to catch it again. With a fantastic cast and razor-sharp pacing, the fact is that this is what you want from a movie called “The Predator.” ~ Roger Ebert.com

Volunteer Profile – Caitlyn

We want to acknowledge how amazing our volunteers are by profiling what some of them have contributed!

This is Caitlyn. She’s been a Civic Theatre volunteer for two years, and is one of our most knowledgable volunteers when it comes to our Membership Program. Caitlyn has helped us with our Member Call-out Initiative since last Spring, meaning she calls former members to inform them of the new changes to our membership program and sees if they want to renew their membership.

Since the initiative started, our membership renewals have gone up by 25%, and we’ve accumulated valuable information regarding what our former members would like to see out of the program. Many people didn’t even know about our new points system, or the fact that those points add up to free movies and concession items!

Caitlyn has also helped people renew memberships online or over the phone, making it easier for people to get back to being a Civic Member!

Thanks so much Caitlyn! Your service has been extremely valuable, and we greatly appreciate your knowledge and efforts.

Check out this interview we did with Caitlyn about her role as a volunteer with the Civic Theatre.”
