What’s Playing at The Civic, 21 – 27, September 2018

Craft Brews Film Competition, Blackkklansman, Searching and Nico!

Newsletter September 21st – 27th
A  flight of great entertainment at The Civic

We kick off the week with Spike Lee’s latest “Blackkklansman”, (95% on RT), based on the real story of Ron Stallworth, a black undercover police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in 1979. Spike respects the history, but doesn’t get lost in the details striking a perfect balance of commentary and genre fun. And on the split, the Sundance award winning, “Searching”, 92% on RT promises a solid week of programming. And that’s even before we mention the CBCB Film Competition, which features 12 East and West Kootenay craft breweries through 18 ‘out of the box’ locally made beer commercials. Craft brew will be on hand to compliment your popcorn.  Finishing the week off, we are showing “NIco, 1988” as another of our enigmatic Thursday offerings. Far from her days in the Velvet Underground, we follow Nico on a solo tour at 50 to promote her new album. – 93% on RT (We pick ’em fresh)
