FREE employment program – RAFT

Are you new or returning to the workforce and need help searching for a job?

Can you picture yourself working in the growing retail, accommodation, food service and tourism sectors?

Our free RAFT Program can help you find meaningful work.

When: Next group-based training in Nelson from January 20 – February 20, 2020.

What you get: Classroom and community-based learning focusing on determining your goals, helping you craft your resume and building interview and other relevant skills, plus access to certifications you will need in your work search.

RAFT also offers:

The details:
The program consists of 5 weeks of in-class and community-based training, Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, followed by one-on-one follow up individual support to help you get the job you want.

The training days will be a mix of skills training (conflict resolution, effective communication, interview skills, Microsoft Word & Excel 2016, customer service, and online platforms), self-exploration (Myers-Briggs assessment), labour market research (employer visits) and certifications. Some days may include lunches out and visits to local employers.

• Interested in working in the service sector (retail, accommodation, food service [kitchen or serving] or tourism)
• Eligible to work in Canada as a citizen, permanent resident or protected person
• Not attending school full time
• Experiencing barriers in finding work
