The last week of the natural year cycle has begun. Winter Solstice occurs on December 21st as usual. The hours of sunlight are at their shortest. A spiritual or holy mood prevails supported by the longer hours of darkness traditionally countered with candlelight. Ironically, most people overlook this special moment, distracted by the busy Christmas season focus.

Beyond taking it for granted, the deeper implications reveal a mass social and cultural disconnect from nature’s rhythms and cycles. It seems quite likely that the collective act of taking for granted the intimate relationship between the Sun and Earth, (the phenomenal reality of the rhythmic, annual seasonal cycle), contributes to the daily abuses inflicted on the relatively fragile environments of the world.

Yet, we can also contribute to changing this current attitude by tuning in and perhaps lighting a candle or two in reverence to the majesty of nature.

The Moon this week hosts last week’s Sagittarius New Moon now at its Crescent Phase, and waxing toward half mast, so to speak, which it will achieve on December 19. Tuning in to the rhythmic cycles of the Moon requires extra attention, but for those who take the time, synchronicities are revealed and can re-awaken us to recognize just how intimate and genuine is our relationship with our blessed Moon. Understanding this cycle can also be harnessed for practical purposes.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

You are in an optimistic and adventurous mood. This energy pattern could also manifest as a philosophical attitude. Either way, managing changing financial realities is part of the plot. While a visionary perspective is ideal, identifying and breaking free of wishful thinking and lofty yet ungrounded notions is also important.

Tip of the Week: The yearly natural cycle is rapidly drawing to a close. Yet, it will do so under the creative and exuberant light of the waxing New Moon. Due to a strong contribution from Leo, this lunation cycle will prove playful, fun, and passionate, if also dramatic at times. Mercury in Capricorn, even if retrograde, also as of December 12 starting just hours after the Sun/Moon conjunction, will bring mixed results. On the high side, it will contribute to stabilizing the overall dynamic. On the other hand, due to Saturn’s position in Pisces, it requires letting go of the past and building upon new foundations. Indecision and procrastination could prove costly now so use this time to at least begin planning for the future. Better yet, actions taken now to activate a new momentum will likely prove successful and rewarded.

The Moon this week hosts the New Moon on 12-12-2023 at 20 Sagittarius 40. The overall theme of the seed chart reveals a visionary and explorational dynamic. Guided by possibilities, expressions will prove innovative and original. Those who are successful are the ones who are able to tap into what others want and need, even if they do not know it. The 12th and last month of 2023 officially begins. Sagittarius is the 9th Sign of the Zodiac, which is symbolic of endings, completions, and graduations, so it is aptly aligned with the last month of the year. The fact that the Natural New Year begins on December 21, when the hours of daylight in the Northern Hemisphere (associated with ‘the’ pole star) Polaris, are at their lowest, is also in sync.

The Sun entering Capricorn, the 10th Sign in the ‘Tropical’ Zodiac, which is anchored in the Sun’s light, or the Sun/Earth relationship, is symbolic of the powerful seeds of new beginnings is also in symbolic alignment because it reveals the eternal promise that death is always followed by rebirth.

There are numerous annual, religious celebrations that occur in December that align with this theme such as Hanukkah of Judaism and Christmas of Christianity. Ironically, the only one that specifically aligns with Winter Solstice is regarded as Wiccan or Pagan, celebrated as Yule. While the number of people in the world who celebrate Winter Solstice is likely growing, it remains quite few. No wonder humanity is so out of alignment with nature, replacing fact with belief-oriented perspectives.

The Moon this week hosts the waning Moon achieving its official Last Quarter turn on December 4 with the Moon at 12 Virgo 48. Yet, before it does, it will skip and dance, so to speak, through playful Leo, ringing in December 2023 with some extra cheer.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19) Despite the festive mood of the season, yours will emphasize practical considerations more than fun and games. Yet, these could be aligned with some measure of travel and adventure. Weaving business with pleasure is also a good possibility and is the sweet spot you seek.

Taurus (Apr 20 – May 20) This year, the transformational impulse of Sagittarius time, specific to your sign, comes with an urge towards increase and expansion. The Sun entered Sagittarius on November 22, 2023, to begin the cycle of the last month of the natural year. Appropriately, the mythic centaur depicted as half-beast and half-human is the 9^th sign of the Zodiac, the number of endings and completion. That it also coincides with the 12^th month of the year, as with the 12 signs of the Zodiac is also apropos, as it aligns with the end of the natural yearly cycle marked by Winter Solstice.

Sagittarius is the sign that symbolizes the adventurous aspiration to know higher truths. The aim of its arrow is aligned with the Galactic Center, from our geo-centric perspective. It is symbolic of higher spiritual principles, just as is true of the Jovian-ruled horseman. The mythic image symbolizes the understanding that we are human souls with mammalian bodies. While this does not equate to the false notion that we are animals, it does point to the perennial quest to rise above our based instincts by way of our higher faculties of intuition and reason.

The Moon this week hosts it waxing to full on November 27 at 4 Gemini 51, in the Tropical Zodiac, the Zodiac of the Sun. With both Mercury and Mars in Sagittarius, the fires of Olympus are blazing extra strongly this year, pointing to an exuberant finally.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Scorpio season has entered its last quarter. However, due to the recent Scorpio New Moon, at 20 Scorpio 44 on Monday, November 13^th its destined influences will linger through to mid-December, anyway. Yet, the events it spurs will likely have a much longer residual effect. It hosts a strong contributing influence from the sign of Cancer, the sign of home, families, ancestry, and tradition. As well, Mars is closely aligned with Sun and Moon and all in Scorpio. The combined influence of these two water signs with the added TNT of Mars in Scorpio implies a deep dive into complex, and what can also be understood to be dark, turbulent, and violent waters.

The Moon this week features a waxing phase dynamic, which is when the energy is building, and it is more forceful. On November 20^th when the Moon in Aquarius forms back-to-back squares with Mars and then the Sun, 111 minutes later…, the New Moon seed will reveal its destined impact more fully.

We are now entering the final 3^rd of Scorpio time. We do so with Saturn in Pisces now direct after almost 5 months of retrograde motion. It is synchronizing with the disintegration of many things that have assumed the status of social norms on a global scale. On the other hand, Saturn’s role while in Pisces is to bring authority to spiritual and specifically to mystical aspects of existence. Principle among these is the now scientifically verified acceptance that matter and the material hardness of existence, is ultimately an illusion, just as the mystics of old have always said. Expect an acceleration of both themes over the coming months.

The Moon this week features a New Moon at 20 Scorpio 44 on Monday, November 13. Since 13 is closely associated with Scorpio, it is quite apropos. Ironically, despite its negative reputation 13 is a very spiritual number, like the hub of the 12 signs or Jesus with his 12 apostles. Break free of the socially conditioned superstition of #13 to claim its transformational power.

 Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Motivated by ardent ambitions, you have likely been pushing hard for some weeks now, and perhaps even many months. It may feel like you are paying your dues, or perhaps paying off debts, material, spiritual, and otherwise. Positively, a visionary spirit is rising to guide you.
