Billy’s Auto Service is looking for an Automotive Apprentice to join our team! This is a full-time position at our shop located in beautiful Salmo, BC.

As an Automotive Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience with a variety of vehicles, learn cutting-edge diagnostic techniques, and contribute to providing top-notch service to our customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:
•  Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify any issues or potential problems, ensuring the inspection is documented
•  Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle mechanical issues and adequately document the problem and recommended repair.
•  Communicate regularly with service advisors to provide updates on the status of repairs and to discuss any issues or concerns related to vehicle repairs.
•  Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
•  Conduct maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements to ensure the optimal functioning of equipment.
•  Perform vehicle repairs and maintenance, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and other components, adhering to safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.
•  Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others.
•  Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory to track equipment performance and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules.
•  Ensure hours worked are documented, signing in and out with your Supervisor.
•  Scrutinize systems for flaws and areas to improve efficiency.
•  Report any discrepancies, potential issues or hazards to the Supervisor immediately, and assist in remedying the situation.
•  Work may take place on the nearby Shambhala festival site as needed.
•  Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
•  You are 3-4 years into your schooling career to become a Red Seal Automotive service technician.
•  A valid driver’s license.
•  1-2 years of direct work experience in automotive repairs and service (a plus, but willing to train the right candidate).
•  Willingness to learn and grow.
•  Can effectively communicate automotive issues using simple terminology.
•  Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•  Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
•  Physical stamina and agility to perform manual tasks and work in various conditions.
•  Commitment to safety practices and adherence to regulations.
•  Willingness to continually update skills and knowledge in the field.
•  Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism at all times when conducting operations and interacting with customers.
•  Takes direction well.
•  Capable of multitasking and prioritizing.
•  A committed individual and self-motivating.
•  Courteous, Competent and Persuasive with a proven ability to handle stressful situations.
•  Ability to foresee and troubleshoot potential issues, making recommendations to increase efficiency.
•  Flexible and able to respond to changes in working conditions.
•  Patience while performing repetitive tasks.
•  Ability to work in a culturally diverse workspace without personal judgments or bias.

Pay Rate: $25-28 per hour
