Are you a skilled negotiator with an eye for great deals? Then we have just the job for you! Join our team as a Buyer and play a key role in keeping our teams well-stocked and running smoothly.

•  This full-time, temporary position will work at both our head office in Nelson, BC as well as on the festival site near Salmo.
•  Position Dates: ASAP – September 2025

The Buyer manages all non-merchandise procurement, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role oversees kit-list procurement by distributing and reviewing templates from department leads, collaborating with teams to assess needs, negotiating contracts, and ensuring smooth delivery. Responsibilities include sourcing from local and international suppliers, managing purchase orders, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, skilled in procurement best practices, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities Include:
•  Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery timelines for festival-related equipment and supplies.
•  Conduct market research to identify potential vendors and negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to optimize purchasing value within budget.
•  Manage procurement for various departments, ensuring all required items are ordered and received on time.
•  Oversee the procurement process from order placement to delivery, tracking shipments and resolving supply chain issues.
•  Manage purchase orders and communicate delivery updates to internal teams.
•  Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchases to maintain optimal stock levels, preventing shortages or overages.
•  Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
•  Evaluate supplier performance and address issues related to product quality or service reliability.
•  Maintain accurate procurement records, including kit lists, vendor agreements, and financial documentation.
•  Utilize historical procurement record-keeping to streamline purchasing, track data, and improve efficiency.
•  Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
•  Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
•  Perform cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.

Qualifications Include:
•  Minimum 2-4 years of proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
•  Strong numerical and analytical skills to assess pricing, trends, and procurement needs.
•  Experience with inventory management and purchasing.
•  Proven relationship management skills with vendors and suppliers.
•  Knowledge of supply chain management principles and procurement best practices.
•  Strong negotiation and communication skills.
•  Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
•  Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
•  Experience with procurement management tools, such as Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs) or other cloud-based tracking systems.
•  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•  High attention to detail and accuracy.
•  Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
•  Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
•  Commitment to ethical procurement practices.
•  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a culturally diverse workspace without personal judgments or bias.
