Billy’s Auto Service Ltd. is now seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team! This is a full-time position at our shop in Salmo, BC.
A Journeyperson Mechanic is a skilled professional responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing issues in various types of machinery and vehicles. They possess a deep understanding of mechanical systems and are proficient in using tools and equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the efficient operation of equipment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical issues: Utilize diagnostic tools and methods to identify problems in machinery and vehicles accurately.
- Perform repairs: Carry out repairs on mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and other components, adhering to safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements to ensure the optimal functioning of equipment.
- Troubleshoot: Investigate and troubleshoot mechanical issues to determine the root cause and implement effective solutions.
- Follow safety procedures: Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Maintain records: Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory to track equipment performance and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with team members: Coordinate with other mechanics, technicians, and supervisors to prioritize tasks and efficiently address maintenance and repair needs.
- Stay updated: Stay informed about advancements in automotive and mechanical technology through training programs, workshops, and industry publications to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform requested tasks, including preventative inspection of potential problem areas.
- Ensure hours worked are documented, signing in and out with your Supervisor.
- Scrutinize systems for flaws and areas to improve efficiency.
- Report any discrepancies, potential issues or hazards to the
- Supervisor immediately, assist in remedy of the situation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Use of Protractor and AutoVitals software Programs an asset but skillset to learn is a must.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training in automotive or mechanical engineering.
- Journeyperson certification or relevant trade license.
- Proven experience as a mechanic, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and diagnostic techniques.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks and work in various weather conditions.Commitment to safety practices and adherence to regulations.
- Willingness to continually update skills and knowledge in the field.
