PRIVATE CARE AIDE – DOWNTOWN NELSON
$25/hour | No certification required | Training provided
We are looking for a reliable, capable and compassionate person to join a small private care team
supporting a social woman in her early 50s living with advanced MS.
This is a hands-on, one-on-one position that plays an important role in helping her maintain her
independence and quality of life. Because of the nature of her disability, the people working with her have a
significant impact on her day-to-day life. Reliability, judgment, communication and consistency are
essential.
We are looking for someone who is:
• A clear communicator who can take direction and feedback openly and professionally.
• Extremely detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to notice what needs doing without always being
asked.
• Reliable and punctual, and aware that consistency is particularly important in this role.
• Present and engaged throughout a shift, with a warm, personable manner and sound judgment.
• Comfortable working closely with the client and other members of a small care team.
This position involves a high level of personal interaction and responsibility. You will work closely with the
client throughout the day, adapting to her needs and working respectfully within established routines. Your
ability to receive feedback and provide consistent care has a direct impact on her day.
The client is funny, appreciative, open and social. She enjoys conversation and getting out into the
community. The care team supports her in living as independently and fully as possible.

The work takes place in a home and includes personal care, cooking, keeping the home clean and
organized, assisting with her dogs, driving to appointments and outings, and providing practical support
throughout the day.
• Physically strong and capable of assisting with lifting and repositioning in bed and other personal care
tasks. A lift is available to assist with transfers.
• Comfortable with dogs and able to assist with their care.
We have a couple more shifts to fill, preferably on weekends, with various shifts available on Friday
