  • This full-time, temporary position will primarily work at our head office on Baker St. in beautiful Nelson, BC.
  • Position Dates: January 15, 2025 – September 12, 2025.
  • Festival Site Work: The successful candidate will also be required to work on-site at the festival location near Salmo, BC for about 1 month in July 2025.

The Recruitment Coordinator will assist with the overall recruitment of all teams and facilitate the hiring process by screening, scheduling, interviewing, and communicating with crew members.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Implement overall recruiting strategy.
  • Process volunteer and staff applications.
  • Evaluate and screen applications to identify high-potential candidates and best team placements.
  • Liaise with Team Managers to assign applicants to teams within appropriate timeframes.
  • Assist team leads with finalizing showtime schedules.
  • Interview new potential crew members via Google Hangouts video calls.
  • Research and coordinate recruitment through job fairs and community outreach.
  • Assist HR department with communications through email, social media and other platforms as required.
  • Supervise and problem-solve for HR volunteers and temporary staff as they complete tasks.
  • Assist with the development and organization of training materials.
  • Maintain timely communications with applicants and personnel to offer outstanding administrative support.
  • Report and recommend solutions for any issues or inefficiencies in the HR department.
  • Maximize the potential for a positive experience for all Shambhala Music Festival staff and volunteers through employee engagement and volunteer appreciation practices.
  • Ensures compliance to all HR policies.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on HR-related metrics like total number of hires by department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous HR and/or event management experience.
  • Understanding of sound interview and screening practices.
  • Highly computer literate with experience using Google Suite and confident in ability to learn new software.
  • Bachelor or diploma-level education in Human Resources, Business,
  • Communications, Events or related field.
  • Supervisor, or other related fields, is an asset.
  • Experience working in festivals and events.
  • Detail-oriented team player and creative thinker.
  • Warm, outgoing personality and comfortable interviewing new candidates.
  • Superior organizational and multitasking skills. Able to manage multiple projects successfully.
  • Patient in performing repetitive tasks.
  • Responds promptly, accurately, and reasonably when making decisions.
  • Flexible, able to handle high-pressure situations, and respond to changes in working conditions.
  • Highly approachable demeanor and comfortable working in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Persuasive, clear communication skills.
  • Sets a positive example and fulfills responsibilities with the highest level of integrity and professionalism, especially when dealing with conflict resolution.
  • Actively demonstrates clear and open communication through teamwork, safe work practices and sincere helpfulness.
  • Ensures compliance with all HR policies.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse work space without personal judgments or bias.

Pay Rate: $23 per hour
