The Civic commemorates Black History Month with a pair of excellent films this week at The Civic and Shoebox Theatres. The five Oscar nominated, ‘American Fiction’ opens along with ‘Origin’, written and directed by Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay. ‘Origin’ chronicles the tragedy and triumph of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Isabel Wilkerson as she investigates a global phenomenon of epic proportions. And rounding out the program, we bring back the Cannes winner, ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, which has since snatched up Best Non-English, and screenplay Golden Globes and is currently nominated for five Oscars.
