Leo time begins on July 22 in the waning light of the Moon. It does so amidst a series of noteworthy planetary placements. Principle among these is Saturn in Aquarius which is still not technically in aspect (‘unaspected’) to any other planet, currently. This actually began on Summer Solstice and continued ever since.

Unaspected planets can be described as ‘wild cards’. The outer manifestation can be described as a growing number of societal factions and subcultures. So, while certain forces aspire to increase homogeneity, this push for recognition by these smaller groups is growing. This should be quite expected in the Age of Aquarius, the sign of individuation.

From the perspective of Numerology, July is a Universal 13/4 month. Like entering an order that requires the death of habitual self-concepts and attitudes ritualized as the shaving of the head, this is suggestive of a process of deepening and of initiation. Not usually a fun experience, playful Leo begins on a somewhat sobering note, quite in-keeping with these complex times.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Creating beauty and harmony close to home continues. Diving deeper into projects is likely. The Sun in Cancer forms a conjunction with Mercury on July 17. Cancer is the most subjective sign of the Zodiac and is positioned at its root. Mercury in Cancer and when it is closely aligned with the Sun increases subjective, emotion-driven reasoning.  Although it takes 88 days for Mercury to orbit the Sun, it takes a year to complete a cycle around the Zodiac, from our geo-centric perspective. Geo-centrism is not a concept; it is our very experience of life. Ironically, the fact that the Sun is the center of the solar system is conceptual because it is not something we experience. Alternately, so strong and convincing are sensory and perceptual experiences that it has contributed to a worldwide conspiracy theory that asserts that the earth is flat and humanity has been deceived to believe it is a globe. Perception itself is not exact or objective, it is significantly subjective. Thus, belief and bias trump fact and truth in daily life, despite popular notions of the facts such as ‘the science’. For Canada, the Moon in Leo stands to activate national pride. Mars in close square aspect to Pluto indicates an aggressive exchange of energies between private interests and government control. Summer has begun and it will get a big extra boost with a powerful and auspicious New Moon on June 28^th at 7 Cancer 23 at 7:53 am EDT. From our perspective here on Earth, the Moon will appear to be at the center of the Sun which is technically given the title, “Cazimi”, a term of Arabic origin which means ‘in the heart of the Sun’.

This is a special event and is deemed very auspicious, if one is in a position to harness its full potential. It marks an excellent time to launch new initiatives of all kinds, especially in the time period of 30-minutes prior and following the time of the exact New Moon.

So, make the effort if you can and take whatever important, official initiative that makes sense in your world. And wouldn’t you know it, even amidst all of the complexities in our world, the New Moon in Leo on July 28 is also Cazimi! Perhaps these are portents of positive change for us all.

Summer Solstice is here once again and occurs on June 21, right on time. This annual event marks the first day of summer, the longest day in terms of hours of sunlight in the northern hemisphere  and the day the Sun enters Cancer in the Tropical Zodiac (the Zodiac that is based on the relationship between Sun and Earth and which is the basis of Western or Tropical Astrology.)

At the exact minute of Solstice, the Moon, Jupiter, Chiron and Mars will be in Aries. This indicates that summer 2022 will prove dynamic, if reactive and aggressive in various ways. This has been the major theme all spring just as the Covid19 drama was subsiding. Venus in harmonious aspect to Pluto could prove good for the strained economy and may even amount to some of those inflated prices coming down a bit anyway. Mercury in Gemini (June 13 – July 4) will synchronize with even more communication exchanges filling the airwaves.
