Nancy Rubins’s Winnie’s Pleasure (2024) has been permanently installed at a public plaza in the Concord Brentwood community in Burnaby, Canada. In the sculpture, a gravity-defying cluster of found aluminum canoes and industrially fabricated metal canoes painted yellow, blue, green, white, and orange is suspended in midair, transforming everyday objects into an engineered abstraction.
