Origins: Celebrated globally, it is characterized by lighthearted trickery. While the exact origin is unknown, a popular theory traces it to the 1560s in France. When switching to the Gregorian calendar, those who stubbornley continued to celebrate the new year in late March/early April were mocked as “April Fools”.
