Insights, Inspirations & Forecast:
Samhain, All Hallow’s Eve, Halloween, All Saints Day all share a common source rooted in ancient Pagan cultures. While traditionally regarded with disdain, it was the Pagan cultures who lived close to Earth and observed the annual seasonal flow. In fact, from the perspective of Christianity, Astrology was created by Pagans. Yet, the Christian authorities borrowed from the model that predated them by thousands of years. The 12 Apostles with Jesus at the center of the circle clearly parallels the 12 Zodiac Signs.
Samhain refers to the last 1/8 period of the year which equates to approximately 46 days. In terms of the agricultural cycle in the Northern Hemisphere, this final period before Winter Solstice, or the ‘natural’ New Year, symbolizes the time of burning the debris of stalks, branches and leaves from the year’s harvest. It also holds a spiritual significance of the death of the year itself, measured also by the final days of diminishing hours of sunlight prior to the rebirth at Winter Solstice, which also shares association with the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.
In the Tropical Zodiac, October 31 and November 1 correspond with the 10th degree of Scorpio, or the Pisces Decant of Scorpio. Where Scorpio is symbolic of transformational processes, which also translate as death and rebirth, Pisces is symbolic of the astral dimension and of the life between lives. This is where the idea of the thinning of the veils finds is source.
This year, what has most commonly come to be regarded as the playful event of Halloween, the Moon arrives at its Last Quarter, also symbolic of endings and of the Fall Season while in its own ruling sign of Cancer. The Moon in Cancer tends to be ‘spirited’ regardless of what phase it is in. The Last Quarter tends to have a somewhat weighted dynamic yet can also prove purposeful and determined.
Interestingly, over the course of this weekend, the Moon will make aspects to every planet, except Mars and Jupiter in Leo. However, as if picking up the slack, Mercury will make a hard aspect to Mars while in its scraping, retrograde process. The Moon having entered Leo at 9:18 pm PDT on Halloween night will finally catch-up and make aspects to Mars and Jupiter on Monday, so will be applying to them throughout the weekend leading to a conjunction on Monday, the most powerful aspect of all, symbolic of new beginnings.
All of this as a lead-up to the mid-term elections in the USA on Tuesday November 3.
With the conjunctions to Mars and Jupiter from the Moon in their early waxing phases as new cycles, these can be interpreted as hosting a dramatic charge, symbolic of heroism and an ardent will to prevail. So, the results of that contest will prove exciting at least.
Interestingly, sensational rumours are circulating that some major events could occur this weekend that could prove disruptive and challenging at a mass scale. This does generally align with the multiple planets retrograde and with other factors including Uranus, Neptune and Pluto closely aligned by degree, at 4 Gemini, 2 Aries and 3 Aquarius respectively, and with the Fire Horse still at full gallop and as if pulling a burning cart of hay. But these are just rumours so hopefully they will prove to be nothing more.
On a final note, the clocks turn back to their ‘natural’ time bringing an end to Daylight Savings Time for those locations still working with it. In Canada, Saskatchewan, Yukon, and some areas of British Columbia do not observe daylight saving time. Saskatchewan has not observed it since 1966, Yukon since 2020, and now Alberta and certain regions in British Columbia have opted out as well more recently, adding a fresh measure of complexity to the mix. Anyway, the turn time is 2 a.m. on November 1st, extending the time period when the veils will be at their thinnest.
