The New Moon in Virgo technically occurred at 11:27 pm EDT yesterday evening, September 10. So, for the great majority of the world’s population, the official date is September 11.
Of course, this marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic 9/11 terrorist event that changed the world dramatically. It was the catalyst for a series of political, legal, technological, and institutional changes that substantially increased the reach of the security state.
Particularly in the United States, there was an expansion of surveillance, security powers, border controls, intelligence gathering, and executive authority in response to perceived permanent terrorist threats, amounting to the ‘war on terror’ as with Homeland Security Act of 2002, which consolidated 22 federal agencies and bureaus into a tighter network of control.
Prior to 9/11 and these many acts, most government surveillance was generally understood through the framework of criminal investigation after a crime is deemed committed, but after 9/11, the framework increasingly became prevention. Interestingly, this aligns well with core principles of Virgo in terms of preventative medicine associated with living a healthy lifestyle.
This New Moon occurred at 18 Virgo 26. This degree shares association with Capricorn and Aries, both of which are Cardinal, or action-oriented signs. With Saturn, which rules Capricorn, and Mars, which rules Aries, specifically in Aries and Cancer, respectively, (both of which are also Cardinal Signs), we can expect that the outer manifestations of the lunation cycle will prove extra dynamic and dramatic too, amounting to significant new beginnings.
How it will have an influence in your life, personally, depends on where it occurs in your birth Chart and whether or not it makes close aspects to any natal planets or angles. The angles refer to the cross based on the horizontal line referring to the Ascendant and Descendant and the vertical line referring to the Midheaven or zenith point and the Nadir, or what can be described as the root point of your chart.
This Cardinal Cross, or the cross composed of horizontal or linear and vertical or synchronistic, is encased in the circle and is the symbol for Earth itself – the cross of matter encased in the circle of spirit.
While it might seem like a leap for some, this is an illustration of how we are ‘made in the image of God’ because it indicates that matter, or the material universe and all embodied life forms, are the dense manifestation of the mind field, symbolized by the circle surrounding the cross, which is itself a denser expression of the spiritual source. This is an ancient perspective.
When understood correctly, Astrology is a spiritual science and can be categorized under the heading of metaphysics. The modern materialistic worldview has rejected this ancient understanding, but it has undermined its very position, as breakthroughs in science itself have effectively transcended purely physical laws categorized under the heading of physics. As well, modern computers are helping to illustrate highly complex processes that reveal an inner intelligence behind the sublimely sophisticated processes. This points to archetypal principles, which can be basically understood as the blueprint of the manifest universe, and which directly refer to the principle of divine mind.
In the words of Lord Kelvin (Willian Thomson), “If you study science deep enough and long enough, it will force you to believe in God.” As it is, educational programming holds fast, and many are still quite unable to appreciate this perspective.
In any case, this New Moon will prove dynamic as the rising agencies of control push the light more fully into action. The world is awakening by the day, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for nefarious forces and networks to hide. Yet, as positive as this might be, it is also dangerous.
In this year of the Fire Horse, apple carts are being overturned, and immense fires have tragically scorched the earth and many souls, and continue even now. Our best response is to identify purpose and respond with love and concern in alignment with our own true nature and destiny, yet free of blame, hate, and anger.
Virgo is symbolic of humble service, and wisdom guides us to live and make choices accordingly. As the old saying goes, “the greatest leaders are those most dedicated to genuine service”. Yet, this can be both difficult to see and to genuinely align with at a personal level due to layers of social conditioning, which is not just consequential in a world where marketing and other modes of shaping public opinion have achieved high levels of sophistication.
This is where Astrology shines brightly, but many remain quite asleep to its great potential, even to this day.
