The Pitch
Five years ago, director Taika Waititi surprised audiences across the globe with his unexpectedly comedic portrayal of the god of thunder with Thor: Ragnarok. Now returning to the helm, Waititi aims to deliver a Thor adventure that is every bit as wacky and unpredictable as its predecessor, while remaining faithful to the comic book source material. Marvel-lovers will be ecstatic to see the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor team up for the first time since the iconic Avengers: Infinity War. Thor: Love and Thunder is also the debut event for fan-favorite comic book legend, Gorr the God Butcher. With Christian Bale portraying the murderous, bloodthirsty villain, there is no doubt that Gorr will be every bit as menacing on the big screen as he is on the page. Perhaps the most shocking reveal from the trailers is the return of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), now sporting Asgardian battle armor and confidently wielding a reforged Mjolnir. Foster’s appearance in the trailers have led fan’s to speculate that Love and Thunder will borrow heavily from The Mighty Thor by Jason Aaron, a beloved comic run which saw Jane Foster gaining godly abilities and taking on the mantle of Thor. Under the creative control of a gifted director, saturated with impressive acting talent and brimming with incredible comic-to-movie adaptations of ultra-popular characters, there is something for everyone to look forward to in Thor: Love and Thunder.
