This coming week, ‘Robot Dreams’, nominated for Best Animated Feature at this year’s Oscars, is an absolutely beautiful animated, dialogue-free story about the miracle of true friendship between a dog and a robot in 1980’s New York City. ‘Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice’, carries on for another week at The Shoebox Theatre. And for a special engagement on Thursday, Sept 19th, we play the BC made, set in 1968 Kootenays, ‘Heart of Gold’, about a young American woman who becomes a militant antiwar activist after her boyfriend is drafted and flees to the mountains of British Columbia. There he is befriended by a Doukhobor dissident and struggles to adjust to life as a fugitive. Writer and Director Patricia Gruben and Composer Martin Gotfrit will be on hand for a Q&A after the screening. Tickets at civictheatre.ca
