Nelson Police Department is requesting your assistance to raise money for the BC Special Olympics

The Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC (SOBC) is staged in partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for SOBC. The event is a proud LETR tradition. Every year, thousands of people get bold and cold at events around the world!

The pandemic has had a long-lasting, far-reaching impact on athletes with intellectual disabilities, who were already far too familiar with the pain of isolation, and on Special Olympics BC. More than ever, we need your support to rebuild all of our year-round, in-person sport programs that create empowering connections, open hearts and minds to inclusion, and break down barriers.

The Nelson Police Department have entered Team “Cold in the Koots” and have committed to taking the plunge into the frigid waters of Kootenay Lake once their fundraising goals are met.

How you can help:

The first fundraiser will be the COPSICLE 2022. On February 25, 2022 at 3:00 pm, Nelson Police Officers will be accompanied by Nelson RCMP, Nelson Sheriffs, Nelson Conservation Officer and all other First Responders who would like to join. The group will stay on to the roof of the Adventure Hotel with the goal of raising $1000 in donations before coming back down.

In order to assist in getting your local First Responders down off the roof, we ask you consider visiting our team site and donating at the following link:

Thank you on behalf of your local First Responders!
