  • I do see the point of jaywalking to save that “minute.” But if you see a vehicle coming towards you. Would you not think it wise to scoot across the street. If the vehicle hits you they will feel a feeling that they endure the rest of their lives. However you could live the rest of your life with chronic pain or worse.  Is is worth it. So be respectful jaywalkers, do not test the car. Have the common sense. Especially in the winter.  I know I will still do it, but I will jaywalk with respect the vehicle is bigger then me.

  • I am concerned by a Nelson trend in retail business. Before, it was “the customer is always right” which indicated respect and deference in serving the public. But today, (because of region? age group? mindset?) this is not being taught. I can think of 3 times recently when it was the employee that was supported in front of and in spite of the customer’s presence. I am one who values customer service so much, I implore employers to give this a think. I shop more south, customer service is great!

  • Meditation can be a focus on anything you are doing. May I suggest that people learn to focus; really hear what is being said. Make it a meditative practice! Read and reread your email from someone, especially if there are questions attached. Really listen when someone is talking to you, don’t be anxious to fill in the pauses. In that silence, you might hear what they are really expressing and what they need. And be able to respond accordingly. I promote active listening for understanding!

  • Congratulations to all those who can not park their vehicles between the lines. You must be special and deserve to take up two spaces? Thanks for causing more energy to be wasted while people drive around looking for a place to park. Shame on you.

  • It’s wonderful that so many people showed up in Nelson to pay respect on Remembrance day at the Cenotaph. Ya Canada, and all that served for our freedom, thank you for the free country we live in toda
