Libra time is drawing to a close and yields to Scorpio’s cycle which begins on November 23^rd this year. Sometimes the cycle of the Sun in a sign begins a day earlier on the calendar, due to the squeeze of the 356.25-day year into the 360 degrees of a complete official cycle. Yet, in these final days before the Sun leaves Libra, it will form a Scorpio aspect (upper inconjunct) to Neptune exactly on October 18 (yes, aspects can be associated with signs), then a Capricorn square to Pluto in Capricorn which is exact on October 21, which equates to big power moves. Then, less than a day after the Sun enters Scorpio, it will form a Sagittarius trine to Saturn, which is the ruler of Capricorn, in Pisces. In the meantime, Mercury also enters Scorpio joining the Sun and Mars on October 22. All of this activity will manifest at a collective level as a good deal of communication on the airwaves about truth and justice, backed by suspicion, skepticism, and deeper investigation. Yet, it can also prove excellent for diving into new studies, generally.

The Moon this week reveals the Moon at half mast in the late degrees of Capricorn and conjunct Pluto, both on October 21^st. This First Quarter phase of the Moon (half Moon) is the waxing of last week’s Solar Eclipse in fairness, equality, and justice-oriented Libra. This mid-stage phase, symbolically associated with Aries, implies dynamic, decisive action and, with Mars in Scorpio, could well prove to be at least assertive and quite aggressive. It is also the mid-point to the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse that occurs at 5 Taurus 09 on October 28^th, gracing Halloween weekend with a full-blown howler!

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

The shift of the inner planets into new signs is now complete. Did you happen to notice or feel the shifts, especially on October 4 or 11, or now as you read this? Admittedly, one must be tuned in to be aware to observe the synchronicities or feel the subtle frequency shifts. Interestingly, rumors were going around on the internet that these dates were chosen to activate shifts in people’s mental states. All intrigue aside, what this suggests is that those involved in such things are using dates that align with planetary activity. It is a reminder that all knowledge can be used for good or evil, but it is not the knowledge itself, but how it is used…

The Moon this week hosts the 21 Libra 08 New Moon which occurred on October 14 at 1:58 p.m. EDT. With Venus, the ruling planet for Libra in Virgo, and Mercury itself in Libra, there is an extra positive boost or energy pattern available. Since both planets are in the other’s ruling sign, which is technically called, ‘Mutual Reception”, they play supportive roles with each other. Mars in its own co-ruling sign of Scorpio, meanwhile, adds to the overall dynamic. It is true that Mars in Scorpio tends to be very passionate and ambitious, even ruthlessly so, but it remains a factor of free will choice how we will engage and harness the energies. Life is a co-creative process, and we always have a choice. Yet, we can get help to make them.

The march of the near planets entering new signs all occurs this week. Mercury is now in Libra as of October 4^th and Venus and Mars enter Virgo and Scorpio on the 8^th and 11^th respectively. These shifts will prove very noticeable now and over the coming several weeks. Watch for the social and political shifts that will gain even more momentum after next week’s Libra New Moon. The chart as a whole indicates the critical thinking meter will rise to a whole new level and people will be seeking accountability and justice.

The Moon this week, therefore, is in its Last Quarter phase bringing the last remnants of whatever remains of summer holding on as long as it can to finally and fully yield to autumn. This will be true in the social and political mood, at least as much as changes in the weather. Watch for examples of people holding on to the past and tradition, perhaps disproportionately to the changing times. That said, how the new social trends will emerge and settle remains a matter of process as various polarized social factions clash in their determination to decipher what constitutes social health, justice and civility.
