The Sun leaves Leo and enters Virgo on August 22^nd or the 23^rd in the east to begin the third and final period of summer. It does so with Mars just having entered Gemini where it will remain until March 2023 due to its retrograde cycle. A planet turning retrograde is a perceptual phenomenon, not actual, but the perceptual experience of it has both psychological and eventful implications. What can be described as a counter-culture process occurs with any retrograde planet, but Mars retrograde can prove extra powerful because it is the planet of action, the veritable verb in the sentence. So, we should generally expect it to have an unraveling effect regarding people’s perceptions and interpretations which are symbolically associated with Gemini Where it is destined to occur in your own chart and what aspects it will make and, thereby, how it will manifest is valuable information that can both support you to be consciously aware and strategically prepared.

Venus entering Leo is the hot headline now. The planet of desires, beauty,
romance and love in the sign of fun, play, passion and sexuality is why this is a
sizzling combination. With the Sun also in Leo, these themes are amplified. Jupiter
in fiery Aries is trine by sign to the Sun and thanks to Venus there too adds plenty
of verve to the vibe. Venus applying to an enthusiastic trine with Jupiter all week
will igniter spirits and beckon us out to sign, dance and laugh and to explore new
horizons. Mars in Taurus meanwhile is still closely aligned enough with Uranus to
weave an added dose of something psychedelic, if wildly unpredictable. Coming

The entire world has entered a time of revolutionary transformation. Never
before have we been united by such a widespread and common challenge. It
appears that humanity is undergoing a worldwide initiation. What is usually
implied is such experiences are some form of spiritual death and rebirth process.
In many respects, the deaths are literal despite apparent mysterious causes. So,
the question that remains is: what constitutes the rebirth? The basic answer is
that we become aware and empathetic and compassionate regarding what
segments of the human family appear to be dying from unnatural causes and
why. Tragically, sometimes the medicine or the procedure is the issue. That is why
it has long been said that ‘there is no one cure for all people’. Since ancient times
it has been understood that we have 4 ‘bodies’ and they can be understood as a
matrix or a synthesis including the mental, emotional, etheric and physical and is
now generally called the ‘mind-body connection’ – search it.

The Leo New Moon on July 28 sowed a celestial seed of hope for the health and welfare of families and children. How this is interpreted and how it manifests is subject to beliefs and choices. The world is now riddled with fear and it appears that there are pretenders who feign concern for the well-being of humanity. As has long been the case the world over, these so-called benevolent agencies demand that others receive their help, or else. Ironically, many seem not to be able to see this age-old contradiction. At the root of this assertion are fear, attachment, dominance, and control. These represent four corners of ego-centrism, which can also be understood as materialism. Together, these constitute the lower expression of Leo, which is ruled by the Sun itself in Astrology. Ego-centrism is not merely a matter of pride and vanity; it is a principle of over-identification with one’s physical body and personality. As important as these are, a soul-centered perspective recognizes these are temporary ‘vehicles’ of the embodied soul for the sake of experiential learning and evolution of the soul.

Leo time begins on July 22 in the waning light of the Moon. It does so amidst a series of noteworthy planetary placements. Principle among these is Saturn in Aquarius which is still not technically in aspect (‘unaspected’) to any other planet, currently. This actually began on Summer Solstice and continued ever since.

Unaspected planets can be described as ‘wild cards’. The outer manifestation can be described as a growing number of societal factions and subcultures. So, while certain forces aspire to increase homogeneity, this push for recognition by these smaller groups is growing. This should be quite expected in the Age of Aquarius, the sign of individuation.

From the perspective of Numerology, July is a Universal 13/4 month. Like entering an order that requires the death of habitual self-concepts and attitudes ritualized as the shaving of the head, this is suggestive of a process of deepening and of initiation. Not usually a fun experience, playful Leo begins on a somewhat sobering note, quite in-keeping with these complex times.

Creating beauty and harmony close to home continues. Diving deeper into projects is likely. The Sun in Cancer forms a conjunction with Mercury on July 17. Cancer is the most subjective sign of the Zodiac and is positioned at its root. Mercury in Cancer and when it is closely aligned with the Sun increases subjective, emotion-driven reasoning.  Although it takes 88 days for Mercury to orbit the Sun, it takes a year to complete a cycle around the Zodiac, from our geo-centric perspective. Geo-centrism is not a concept; it is our very experience of life. Ironically, the fact that the Sun is the center of the solar system is conceptual because it is not something we experience. Alternately, so strong and convincing are sensory and perceptual experiences that it has contributed to a worldwide conspiracy theory that asserts that the earth is flat and humanity has been deceived to believe it is a globe. Perception itself is not exact or objective, it is significantly subjective. Thus, belief and bias trump fact and truth in daily life, despite popular notions of the facts such as ‘the science’. Believe it or not!

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Your mood will progressively shift this week even further away from an emphasis on larger, social, and political realities to those close to home.
